LG smartphones home screen has three on-screen touch buttons- return, app drawer and recent apps. These onscreen buttons usually stay hidden when you are using an app or playing a game, and you will have to swipe from the button or right edge of the screen to bring them up. However, on some games like Mortal Kombat the on-screen buttons dont go away and stays on the right side of the screen, preventing full-screen gameplay. This can be very distracting, annoying, and there is a good chance you will accidentally press the onscreen buttons. Whether its games or any other apps, you get a more immersive experience when the whole screen is utilized.

Here is how you can hide on-screen buttons on LG phones for any app or games that do not support immersive mode.

How to hide on-screen navigation buttons on LG G5, G4, G3 and V10

  • Open Settings (swipe down from the top of the screen and tap the gear icon on top right)
  • Go to Display
  • Tap on Home touch buttons
  • Tap Hide Home touch buttons
  • Now you will see a list of apps and games installed on your smartphone
  • Simply select the apps/games for which you want on-screen navigation buttons to remain hidden.

Dont worry the above steps, wont permanently hide the navigation buttons as you can easily bring them back by swiping up from the bottom (in portrait mode) and swiping left from right side of the screen (in landscape mode).

The best feature of LG smartphones like G4 and G5 is its camera, and what makes it special is its ability to shoot photos in RAW format. Taking pictures in RAW will give photo editors incredible amount of control to tweak their images and improve its overall quality via powerful editing tools like Adobe Lightroom. Many new LG smartphone users have a hard time finding the option to enable RAW mode in LG's camera app.

To enter RAW mode, you will first have to switch from automatic to manual camera mode. This is very easy, simply open your camera app and then tap in the menu icon (three dot vertical line) on the top left. Now, tap "Manual". After you're in manual mode, on the left taskbar you will see a "JPG" icon. Tap on it and now it will switch to "RAW JPG".  Now you are ready to shoot photos in RAW format.

Before you start using the RAW mode, you should learn the basics of manual shooting. It is very easy to learn. Just play with the available settings that include WB(white balance), MF(manual focus), exposure (+/-), ISO and shutter speed (S). On brighter environment you will need to lower the ISO and the shutter speed. On a more darker setting or dimly lit indoor environment, experiment with higher ISO and lower shutter speed. Too much ISO, while brightens the image, can increase noise. Note that when you increase the shutter speed, your camera's shutter will open for a long time to let more light in and takes more time to snap a photo. So you will have to hold the camera very steady while shooting with low shutter speed. The white balance is used to change the color tone from cool to warm- use it to get the most natural color for your photos during different weather and lighting conditions.

The LG G4 and G5 with its f 1.8 aperture camera, is able to take excellent night shots. You can take amazing night shots by using a small smartphone tripod. Just play with the manual settings and you will become a pro LG smartphone photographer in no time.

Many users who just got a new LG smartphone are having a problem where they can't select multiple images in LG's Gallery app. Many will wonder how such a simple feature is missing in a high-end smartphone, but actually there is a different step to select multiple photos in Gallery on LG devices so that you can do multiple deletion at once instead of one by one. Before you go installing a third party app like Quickpic, here is how you can select multiple images in the Gallery app of LG G3, G4, G5:

  • Open (default) Gallery
  • Open the folder whose images you want to delete/copy/move
  • Tap on the delete icon on the top right screen
  • Now you can make select multiple pictures one by one or tap "select all" to delete everything

Similarly, if you want to copy or cut/move images to different folder in Gallery app, after step 2 above. Tap on the menu icon (three dots lined vertically) on the top right corner of the screen. Then tap "move" or "copy" and select the photos you want to move or copy.

Out of the box, your LG smartphone's has the screen touch sounds option enabled by default. While I personally find the lockscreen sound useful, I don't like my phone to make sounds everytime I touch an icon and I specially don't like the dialpad touch sounds because it doesn't allow me to call someone discreetly. The loud dialpad sounds can be very annoying not only to you but to those around you. Luckily, you can easily mute or turn off dialpad touch sounds on your LG device via Sound & notification settings. Additionally,  if you don't like the vibrations or haptic feedback while typing on the onscreen keyboard, you can also turn it from the "sound and notifications" settings.

Steps to turn off touch sound on dialer of LG G4 or G5 (and other LG devices)

Turning off dialpad touch sounds in LG's "sound effects" settings

  • Go to Settings >>  Sounds & Notification
  • Scroll down and tap on "More"
  • Here you can uncheck "Vibrate on tap" to disable screen tap vibrations or feedback
  • Now Tap on "Sound effects"
  • Uncheck " Dialpad touch sounds" and also "Touch Sound"

There you go, now you won't hear any sounds while dialing a number on your LG phone.

For LGs smart settings to work you have to turn on my place in the location settings. If you arent connected to mobile data your My Place option is greyed out and you cant turn it on. So all you need to do is turn off Wi-Fi and swipe down from the screen to access the quick toggle and tap on Data to turn on mobile data. Once connected to mobile data, you the gray highlight will be removed and you will be able to turn on My Place under location settings.

There is however one more steps before you can use the smart settings features that will automate many features like turning on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and changing sound profile when at home or office. After My Place is enabled you will need to locate your Home for smart settings. When you are at home, simply tap on My Place and the Maps will open and automatically detect your current location, which you can set as home address for the smart settings. If you are still confused, here are detail steps to enable or turn on My Place for using smart settings feature on LG smartphones like G4 and G5:

  1. First turn off Wi-Fi and enable Mobile Data (via quick access toggle on the notification bar)
  2. Next Go to Settings >> General >>Location >> My Place (it will no longer be grayed out)
  3. Turn on My Place and select Allow
  4. Next, you will have to set you home location
  5. Go to settings >> General>> Location >> Turn on location >> Tap on My Place
    • Note: Mobile data should be enabled for this step as well
  6. Now your current location will be automatically detected, and you can set it has Home location
  7. If you want to manually enter your home location, click on the gear icon and type your address.
